“The Summer Where Light Died” is a coming-of-age horror based on the manga currently being serialized in Mokumoku Renga’s “Young Ace UP.” The story follows Yoshiki, also known as Tsujinaka Yoshiki, an ordinary high school boy, as he experiences various strange incidents around him while living with Hikaru, a mysterious being who mimics his childhood friend, Ido Hikaru.
The original work has been generating buzz, winning first place in the men’s category of “This Manga is Amazing! 2023.” The TV anime will be directed and composed by Takeshita Ryohei, who worked on “Night Jellyfish Can’t Swim,” with Takahashi Yuichi as character designer and chief animation director, Hiraoka Masanobu as the doro-doro animator, and animation produced by Cygames Pictures. The cast includes Kobayashi Chiaki as Yoshiki and Tsujinaka Yoshiki, and Umeda Shuichiro as Hikaru.
