Get ready for the highly anticipated TV anime ‘Nigejou no Wakakunin’ (The Prince Who Runs Away), a thrilling adaptation of Matsui Yusei’s manga renowned for ‘Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro’ and ‘Assassination Classroom’. This exciting series is set to air on TOKYO MX and 30 other stations starting from July 6th.

The second promotional video, featuring the protagonist Hojo Tokiyuki, who lost everything when the Kamakura Shogunate fell due to the betrayal of Ashikaga Takauji and the suspicious Suwa Yorishige, has also been released on YouTube.

Mark your calendars for the exclusive premiere screening of ‘Nigejou no Wakakunin’ at the iconic Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, on June 23rd. This special event, held at a location deeply connected to the work, will be graced by the presence of Asaki Yukawa, Hinaki Yano, and Yuichi Nakamura, the talented actors behind the characters Hojo Tokiyuki, Shizuku, and Suwa Yorishige.

The film is a “fugitive tale” based on historical facts, depicting the wanderings, hiding, and counterattack of Hojo Tokiyuki, “the best young warlord in the world who was good at running away.” In 1333, the Kamakura Shogunate was destroyed by a sudden rebellion, and the young Hojo Tokiyuki, who was supposed to be the successor to the Shogunate, was invited by the Shinano priest Suwa Yorishige to run away and start on the path to becoming a hero.

It is Matsui’s first new series in about five years since “Assassination Classroom” and began in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) in January 2021. The anime will be directed by Yuta Yamazaki and produced by CloverWorks.
