The latest installment in the Space Battleship Yamato anime remake series, “Yamato Forever REBEL 3199,” began screenings on October 10, 2025, with “Chapter 4: Sasha, the Light Blue Maiden.” It was also announced that the next installment, “Chapter 5: Incandescent Galactic War,” will premiere on February 20, 2026. A teaser visual and trailer featuring original artwork by Kia Asamiya were also released.
“Yamato Forever REBEL 3199” is the latest installment in the “Space Battleship Yamato 2199” series, based on the third theatrical film, “Yamato Forever,” released in 1980, and reinterpreted into seven chapters (26 episodes). Does the title “3199” refer to a thousand years in the future? What hidden connection exists between the antagonist Desarium and Earth? The shock revealed at the end of the previous film continues to grow.
The drama is becoming increasingly intense. Enemy officer Alphonse captures Mori Yuki, and Kodai Susumu, unable to escape his guilt, faces the test of separation. Furthermore, Starsha’s orphaned child, Sasha, becomes heavily involved. The tense, fierce battle unfolds as each character acts with determination, reexamining the meaning of that battle. What exactly does the keyword “REBEL” mean? In “Chapter 4: The Light Blue Maiden (Sasha),” the Space Battleship Yamato arrives at Garmillan’s new home planet, Planet Garman.
There, he finds not only President Desler but also Sasha, now 17 years old. Kodai’s heart is torn between confusion and joy after an unlikely reunion with the young girl he once lost. Meanwhile, on Earth, Mother Desariam’s plan reaches a new stage.
Yuki, dressed in a dress, appears at a social gathering amidst a flurry of scheming. What is the hidden resolve in her heart as she leans close to her enemy, Alphonse? The Garman star system is then invaded by the Rajendra fleet of the planet Baas, which is under the control of the Bolar Federation, and Yamato finds itself caught up in a conflict between these two major powers. With planet-destroying missiles approaching, will Yamato be able to save Garman and uncover the true identity of the “Witch of Uralia”? Along with the release of “Chapter 4: The Light Blue Maiden,” the next film, “Chapter 5: The Incredible Galactic War,” is scheduled for release on February 20, 2026. A teaser visual and trailer featuring original illustrations by Kia Asamiya, who is responsible for the film’s image drawings, were also released. Anticipation is building for the trailer and the tagline, “The Unexpected Begins.” Movie ticket cards for “Chapter 5: The Incredible Galactic War,” which include a bonus poster featuring this teaser visual, are now on sale at theaters and online stores nationwide.
