BLACKPINK proved its status as a representative K-pop girl group by performing on the stage of ‘Hyde Park,’ one of the best music festivals in the UK.
On the 5th, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK had completed the stage at the ‘Hyde Park British Summertime Festival (from now on referred to as ‘Hyde Park’) held in London, England, on the 2nd (local time). This marks Blackpink’s first headliner performance as a K-pop artist at the UK’s top music festival, the birthplace of pop, following “Coachella” in the US in April.
‘Hyde Park’ is a festival where world-class pop stars and music fans gather and enjoy regardless of genres such as rock, hip-hop, electronic, and R&B. Even though Blackpink appeared for the first time, it sold out with an audience of 65,000 (based on BBC tally).
Appearing amidst the heat that filled the scene, Blackpink started the stage with “Pink Venom,” “How You Like That,” and “Pretty Savage.” Then, they showed off from the hit song medley to the solo stage that used the charm of 4 people and four colors.
In particular, the members received cheers from the audience for their unrivaled control and relaxed stage manners. The members led the atmosphere by interacting with the audience, such as freely moving around the stage, including the protruding location, and handing microphones to the audience. Music fans responded with waves of pink cheering sticks and bursting chants.
BLACKPINK, which ran non-stop for about 90 minutes, thanked the music fans who sent their support, reminiscent of a concert. “It’s such an honor to stand on the Hyde Park, England stage. Our dream has come true,” he said with a sense of excitement.
After the festival, influential local foreign media focused on BLACKPINK’s performance. The BBC said, “Blackpink wrote a new history. They are now one of the biggest groups in the world beyond K-pop.” It may change,” he said.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is conducting the largest world tour of a K-pop girl group, ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK],’ which mobilizes about 1.5 million people. After holding an encore performance in Paris, France, on the 15th (local time), they will move on to Hanoi, Vietnam, New Jersey, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc.
