Marine Park is an aquarium in Awashima, Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, opened in 1984. Since then, it has operated as a small-scale aquarium with famous sea lion shows. In 2016, the TV anime ” Love Live! Sunshine!! ” appeared in the movie along with the nearby “Awashima Hotel .”
Since then, many anime fans from inside and outside the prefecture have visited this place as one of the “sacred places” for anime. In 2018, a puzzle-solving experience event, “Real Escape Game Escape from the Aquarium on a Solitary Island, ” was held in collaboration with the same work.
The closure of “Awashima Marine Park,” which has a deep connection with such anime works, was announced on the 22nd in the “Awashima Marine Park Closing Notice” published on Official X.
The decision is based on the realization that ”the day is coming soon when our aging facilities will no longer be able to withstand day-to-day operations” and that they have been loved by Numazu residents, tourists, and anime fans all over the world.
