According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has revealed plans to build one of the world’s largest studios in New Jersey.
Netflix bids $55 million for a 293-acre plot of a former military base in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. The company plans to invest $850 million into a production base, including 12 soundstages and an outdoor setting. In addition, the company plans to produce feature films and TV series here.
Netflix has production facilities in Atlanta, California, New Mexico, Brooklyn, Toronto, Canada, and British Columbia. The decision to build a new studio in New Jersey was due to the need for a production base on the East Coast and New Jersey’s tax incentives for movies and TV dramas.
Netflix expects the studio to support between 1,400 and 2,200 jobs annually once fully operational.
