Girl group BLACKPINK is returning after more than two years on a ‘best in history’ scale. The music video production cost, album format, world tour host city, etc. are daring to launch a quantity offensive that cannot be compared with anything that has been shown so far. Thanks to this, the anticipation of fans around the world is at an all-time high.
BLACKPINK, who will simultaneously release their 2nd full album ‘BORN PINK’ around the world on September 16, will pre-release the single ‘Pink Venom’ on the 19th prior to the release of the regular album.
With their first full-length album ‘The Album’ last year, they ranked second on the US Billboard’s main album chart ‘Billboard 200’, the highest record in K-pop girl group history. They became the first girl group to top the Billboard ‘Artist 100’ chart.
During the group hiatus, each member performed solo activities and grew their fandom, so he is determined to exceed the record set at the time. YG Entertainment, the agency, said, “Please look forward to the album full of the fatal aura, BLACKPINK’s unique identity, and music that suits it.”
Departure starts on the 19th with the pre-release of ‘Pink Venom’. One of the group colors and also the song color, ‘Pink’, lights up landmarks in major cities around the world.
According to YG, the ‘Light Up The Pink’ promotion is a campaign to illuminate representative spots of each country with pink lights to commemorate BLACKPINK’s comeback. Next, the Tokyo Tower in Japan, the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, and the Santa Monica Ferris Wheel in LA are colored in pink that symbolizing BLACKPINK.
The highest production cost in YG history is invested in the music video. YG did not disclose the specific amount, but it is the highest amount compared to the production cost ever spent on music videos for artists such as Big Bang and Sechs Kies. Starting with the Seoul concert in October, the world tour will be held in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. This is also a very large scale with about 1.5 million people put into it.
The album will be presented in three forms: a box set version, a kit album, and an LP. In particular, the box set attracts attention as it is made of eco-friendly materials. The CD-less Kit (Kit) album is also made of biodegradable plastic.
Prior to the release of the new album, they will be the first K-pop girl group to attend the ‘MTV Video Music Awards (2022 MTV Video Music Awards, VMA) in the US on the 29th (Korean time) and decorate the stage.
