The reason why Honest calls himself a genius was revealed, and online reactions included, “So he’s a genius and strong because of something in his past…!”
Honest is the most physically fit member of the party and calls himself a genius. In episode 9, “Blood Magic,” Honest faces off against Gloria (voiced by Kisho Taniyama ) of the Dark Guild, but struggles against her opponent, who revives with the unorthodox magic “Blood Magic” even after inflicting a fatal blow.
Meanwhile, Honest reminisces about his childhood. When he was young, he had a friend (voiced by Daisuke Kasuya) who was his rival. His friend had beaten Honest many times and, like Honest now, called himself a genius, saying, “There’s no way you could beat me. I’m a genius.”
Honest continued to strive to one day beat him, but one day his friend fell ill. When Honest said, “I won’t let you run away with the win!” his friend replied, “Then I’ll give it to you. You win. You’re the genius, Honest.”
Then the scene returned to the present, and Ornest, carrying his friend’s thoughts, shouted, “I am a genius! No matter what anyone says!”
Honest’s past was revealed, and comments such as “So that’s when he inherited it,” “He’s a genius and a strong man despite his past…!”, “This was a great episode that got to the heart of Honest,” and “He’s carrying a pretty heavy past…” appeared on social media.
