Keiichi Hara’s feature-length animation “Summer Days with Coo” is a unique summer vacation project of BS Matsutake Tokyu (BS260ch / general organization free broadcast) movie broadcast frame “Sunday Golden Theater” (every Sunday from 6:30 pm). It turned out to be an uncut broadcast.

Based on Masao Kogure’s children’s literature, this work depicts the friendship between a boy and a boy, Ku, who has a mysterious power. Koichi, an elementary school student, picks up a big stone on his way home from school. When I took it home and washed it, it was a kappa child. Koichi named the kappa Ku and started living with him.

“Summer Days with Coo” was released in July 2007 and celebrated its 15th anniversary this year. This will be the first feature-length animation broadcast at BS Matsutake Tokyu, which opened in March, and will be the first memorable work. This time, a special interview with director Hara will also be broadcast as a unique project. Director Hara looks back at the time of production and talks about his passion for the work that was completed 20 years after the conception.

Yusuke Okada, the producer of BS Matsutake Tokyu Organization Bureau, made the following comments with this broadcast.

“This work was released the year before I became a member of society, but when I first saw it, there was no borderline in the work that looked deeply at human beings, regardless of whether it was animation or a live-action film. I have a memory that broadened my horizons. When I considered a work that would decorate the top batter of a feature-length animation in a movie organization with six frames a week, this work was the first thing that came to my mind. I felt something similar to the atmosphere of the present era. Even in the theme of facing “foreign things,” there was something closer to the present than when it was released. On the other hand, it is simple. I’m also drawn to the adventures of boys and Kawado, so I hope people of all ages will enjoy it. “

“Summer Days with Coo” will be broadcast on BS Matsutake Tokyu’s “Sunday Golden Theater” from 6:30 pm on July 31st.
