Chibi Maruko-chan will broadcast a 1-hour special, ‘Becoming a Drifter,’ to celebrate its 35th anniversary! Preview footage released

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the anime ” Chibi Maruko-chan,” which airs every Sunday evening, a one-hour unique program will be broadcast from 6 p.m. on January 5th. Famous songs from the 1970s will also be featured! Advance cuts from the January 5th broadcast have been released.

Since its broadcast began in 1990, the series has been supported as a national work, and in 2025 it will reach its 35th anniversary. The program is titled “Thank you! 35th Anniversary of the Animation: Laugh, Sing, and Bring Good Fortune – New Year’s One-Hour Special,” and will broadcast three episodes: “Maruko Becomes a Drifter,” “Tama-chan’s Dad’s First Dream,” and “Passionate Singing! Chibi Maruko-chan Song Festival.”

The highlight of the unique program, “Maruko Becomes a Drifter,” is a limited episode that depicts Maruko and her friends taking on the comedy group “The Drifters” at a school party. In addition, “Passionate Singing! Chibi Maruko-chan Song Festival” will feature many nostalgic classic songs from the 1970s.

Kikuchi Kokoro, who played Maruko this year, commented, “It was difficult to sing in a high voice in the song show. ” Shimada Bin, who plays Tomozou, reflected on the recording, saying, “It was full of Showa-era songs, and it was an hour of Maruko world fitting for the 35th anniversary.”

“Maruko Becomes a Drifter” (Part 1) (Part 2) Hamaji suggests that they want to do a Drifter at the next party. The Drifters are a nationally popular musical and comedy group representing Japan, and Maruko and children all over Japan are crazy about them. Hamaji makes the 3-4 (Class 4) Drifters and chooses the members.

Hamaji takes the role of Kato-chan, Kosugi-kun takes the role of Takagi Boo, Maruko takes the role of Shimura Ken, Fujiki-kun takes the role of Ikariya Chosuke (Cho-san) because he is tall, and Ohno-kun takes the role of Nakamoto Koji because of his good athletic ability.

The 3-4 Drifters start with singing practice. Maruko and the others watch and listen to the TV intently, take notes on the lyrics, and memorize the choreography, but they can’t seem to do it how they want. Noguchi-san, who loves comedy, comes in to teach them, and serious practice begins. The training continues, and it’s the day before the party. Fujiki is worried about how difficult Cho-san is.

“Tama-chan’s Father’s First Dream” volume On New Year’s Day, Tama-chan’s father seems to be acting strangely. When they ask him about it, they find out that the hermit grandfather who appeared in Tama-chan’s first dream told him that good things would happen if he didn’t take a picture of Tama-chan. Wanting to encourage Tama-chan’s father, who has been holding back from taking photographs, Maruko and Tomozo suggest they get him to take a picture of them.
