Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 is finally going to be released months from now. Following the success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the Movie: Mugen Train, the blockbuster shonen anime series based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, will be returning with new episodes.
In 2019, Gotouge’s manga was adapted into anime with 26 episodes in the first season. Its story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a teenage boy who strives to become a demon slayer after his family is murdered and his sister Nezuko is turned into a demon.
Surprisingly, Ufotable, the studio behind the anime adaptation of Demon Slayer, has released a good amount of information for the upcoming season. A new trailer has already been released, hinting at new characters, unique abilities, and sinister new villains. The story of Season 2 will likely continue the conflict that started from the Mugen Train film.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Release Date: Will it be out by October 2021?
According to the official statement, Demon Slayer Season 2 is set to release in 2021, but no exact date was announced. However, Yahoo! Japan gave a release window of October 2021 as part of the Fall 2021 anime season.
Traditionally, anime shows are divided up into several release windows throughout the year. Popular shows usually return during the Spring, Fall, and Winter seasons. Since Demon Slayer Season 2 missed its chance to debut earlier this year, it will likely arrive in either the following Fall or Winter anime seasons.
Twitter user DemonSlayerSC recently said that fans could learn more about the release date of Demon Slayer Season 2 on September 25.
“More information about Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 will be revealed on September 25, 2021. Release date may be announced!”, DemonslayerSC tweeted.
So please mark your calendars for September 25 to find out when it will be released.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Trailer: first teaser already released!
Ufotable and Aniplex USA have released the first teaser for Demon Slayer Season 2, showing the details of the Demon Slayer Corps’ excursion to the entertainment district in Yoshiwara. There’s a particular focus on Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, who will likely tag along with the trio of Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu in a similar way to how Rengoku did during Mugen Train.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Plot: Do you need to watch Mugen Train before watching the new episodes?
Demon Slayer Season 2 will adapt the Entertainment District arc of the manga series, which takes place after Mugen Train, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, you will need to have watched the movie before watching Season 2.
At the end of Season 1, Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu were summoned to their first major assignment as part of the Demon Slayer Corps. They were accompanied by Rengoku, a member of the Hashira (elite Demon Slayer swordsman), and the events of the film followed Tanjiro and the company’s mission to take down the Lower One of the Twelve Moons, the demonic organization led by the slayer of Tanjiro’s family, Muzan Kibutsuji.
Following the tragic events of Mugen Train and the end of the Infinity Train saga, Tanjiro, the Demon Slayer Corps, and the Hashira will have to deal with the fallout of the film as well as the emergence of new villains.
The trailer above shows Tanjiro’s group heading to Yoshiwara, the entertainment district known for its bright lights and dark desires. With Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, accompanying them, there’s a good chance that they might encounter someone from the Upper Moon.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Cast: Who are the voice actors?
The trailer looks like the core Demon Slayer voice cast of the original Japanese version will all return for the upcoming season. The actual voice cast includes Natuski Hanae (Tanjiro), Akari Kito (Nezuko), Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu), and Yoshitsugu Matusoka (Inosuke). The main antagonist, Muzan Kibutsuji (voiced by Toshihiko Seki), is also returning.
Animeplex hasn’t announced the English voice cast for Demon Slayer Season 2 yet.
Where can I watch Demon Slayer Season 2?
Funimation and Crunchyroll are expected to release Demon Slayer Season 2 in 2021. The English likely subbed versions of the new episodes will come out in the streaming services following their premiere in Japan.
