Some are even suggesting the possibility of a movie version.
Split-season seasons have become the norm for manga-based TV anime. Recently, several anime series officially reached their “final episodes.” I’m curious about the continuation of both series, which are scheduled for their second season this season, but if a third season is confirmed, they’ll likely conclude there.
This is because we are familiar with how the manga unfolds, so let’s explain why. First, regarding “Dress-Up Love,” the anime’s first season covers episodes 1 through 39 of the manga. The second season covers episodes 40 through 86. The remaining manga is half of episode 86, making up episode 115.
The difference in the balance between the number of manga stories and anime may be due to the fact that each season typically concludes a story. In any case, fans have pointed out the limited number of original stories corresponding to the third season. Given these circumstances, some have suggested that the third season might be a movie.
This is likely due to the desire to see Kitagawa Marin’s divine cosplay in theaters. I prefer the series to conclude on TV. The quality of the TV anime so far is comparable to the movie, so if the current staff continues, I’ll be able to relax and wait for the broadcast to air in living rooms around the world.
The limited number of original stories may be made up for with original plot developments. In fact, the final episode of the second season was entirely original to the anime. And, likely, the beginning of the third season will also be original to the anime.
This is because episode 86 of the original manga, which corresponds to the original story, is not a development that can be generally divided. It was a wise decision by the anime staff to divide it up and conclude it here. Furthermore, the second season largely omitted parts of the original manga, so it may be too easy to make predictions based on the number of original story chapters actually used.
The issue is when the second season will be broadcast, but the production announcement was made six months after the first season ended so that it will be about two years until the broadcast. Therefore, it may not be something to make too much of a fuss about now.
