Is this too much, after all? Complaint to the BPO about the anime that caused the problem: ‘This is weird at 10 pm.’

A relationship that barely exists, even in fiction

Among the many anime broadcast yearly, some unique works make you wonder why they were broadcast on terrestrial TV. Some works were broadcast on terrestrial TV, but the content was too extreme, or they were forced to respond to problems that occurred in real life.

For example, “My Little Sister Has Been a Little Strange Lately,” broadcast in 2014, would fit the bill. This work is about the protagonist “Kamisaki Mitsuki,” who is troubled by her relationship with “Kamisaki Yuya,” who suddenly becomes her stepbrother.

The awkward brother-sister relationship changes when Mitsuki is possessed by the ghost “Kotobuki Hiyori” on the footbridge. In the first episode, there were some extreme developments, such as Mitsuki comforting herself after Hiyori takes control of her body and Mitsuki writhing in agony when Hiyori attacks her directly.

The BPO received some comments about this work, which was broadcast from 10:30 p.m., such as “The content is not suitable for broadcasting at 10 p.m., such as putting a chastity belt on a high school girl and broadcasting a scene of masturbation.” As a result, while it continued to be broadcast on terrestrial TV, it was forced to move the time slot to late night from the fifth episode. In addition, “Kodomo no Jikan,” broadcast in 2007, also had quite radical content.

The main character, “Aoki Daisuke,” a new teacher at an elementary school, is seduced by “Kokonoe Rin,” a student in his class. Throughout the story, Rin gradually goes beyond the relationship between teacher and student and strengthens her feelings for Daisuke. There are also scenes where Rin and other students reveal their sexy sides. Then, an incident reminiscent of “Kodomo no Jikan” occurred just before the broadcast, and some stations postponed the planned broadcast.

The Blu-ray version, scheduled for release in 2011, was canceled due to concerns about the announcement and production system due to the Great East Japan Earthquake. Years have passed since then, but the Blu-ray version has not been released. The 2011 anime “I don’t like my big brother at all!!” was also a romantic comedy that depicted a somewhat unusual brother-sister relationship.

The main character, Nao Takanashi, dotes on her brother Shusuke Takanashi. While she recognizes him as her real sister, she smells his clothes and pressures Shusuke to make him think of her as a woman, and the story unfolds in extreme daily chaos.

Although it was aggressive, it was not the depiction of sex appeal that was a problem in this work. In the 10th episode, a new character, Tanida Kairan, who attends the same high school, appears, and the story unfolds around the interaction between Shusuke and her, a cosplayer who loves the occult. As Shusuke and his friends listen to Ran’s story, they imagine a scene in their minds of being swept away by a massive wave on the roof of the school building.

The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred just before the episode aired. The show was postponed for a week except on some broadcasting stations, after which it was broadcast from episode 11, skipping episode 10.
