Today, May 9th is officialy celebrated as “Goku Day” in Japan. Dragon Ball Super movie will be announced today.

In his book about Akira Toriyama published in 2004, Julius Weideman said Goku’s excursion and steadily becoming stronger brought about the character winning “the reverence of little fellows everywhere.”Jason Thompson expressed that not at all like the “manly” legends of other well-known shōnen manga of the last part of the 1980s and mid-1990s, like City Hunter and Fist of the North Star, Toriyama made his hero (Goku) childish and little, subsequently beginning a pattern that Thompson says proceeds right up ’til today. In 2015, the Japan Anniversary Association authoritatively announced May 9 as “Goku Day”. Goku is the first manga character to have an inflatable at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, with his first appearance at the 2018 motorcade.
