Ranking by review score instead of number of votes?
Filmarks, Japan’s largest review service for movies, dramas, and anime, operated by Tsumiki Co., Ltd., has announced the “2025 First Half Anime Rankings” based on user review data. This is based on Filmarks’ star score (out of 5) data for anime broadcast and distributed in Japan between January 1, 2025, and June 30, 2025.
Among the many works, which anime had the highest average user rating (the Mark! number refers to the number of reviews)? The top 10 rankings, from bottom to top, are as follows: “Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World 3rd season: Counterattack” 4.20/3190 Marks!, “Fire Force Season 3, 1st cour” 4.21/1074 Marks!, “Apocalypse Hotel” 4.21/1568 Marks!, “Little Citizen Series, 2nd season” 4.24/1590 Marks!, “Medalist” 4.26/7269 Marks!, “The Apothecary Diaries, 2nd season” 4.27/6623 Marks!, “Spider-Man: A Friendly Neighborhood” 4.32/1472 Marks!, “Lycoris Recoil: Friends are thieves of time.” 4.33/1755 Marks!, “Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray” 4.38/1024 Marks!, and “Black Butler:
The Green Witch Arc” 4.46/948 Marks! As the sequels of popular anime are showing their strength, the fifth season of the anime Black Butler, Black Butler: The Green Witch, has received exceptionally high scores, with comments such as “The beauty of the world view and the animation is too excellent.” “The opening and ending are artistically beautiful, and the images are simply beautiful. The anime has scenes that are not in the original, which is good. I’m curious to see what happens next!”
Also, since the ranking is based on scores rather than the number of votes, the overseas anime Spider-Man: Friendly Neighborhood, which is exclusively distributed on Disney+, has surpassed the popular The Apothecary Diaries Season 2. [Ranking Overview] The above is a ranking of anime (excluding one-off anime) with more than 800 Mark! Posts as of July 4, 2025. The score in the article is as of July 4, 2025. The score is a rating given by each user after watching a movie, drama, or anime with the number of stars (out of 5.0 points).
The score of each work is displayed up to two decimal points for ranking purposes. The official display within the service is up to one decimal point, and in the event of the same score, the work with the most marks! It will be ranked higher. Reviews (Mark!) can be posted up to one per user per work.
