‘2022 K-Pop World Festival’ Bolivia Qualifiers Open

The Korean Embassy in Bolivia (ambassador Ki-hong Kim) held the ‘2022 K-Pop World Festival’ held on July 24 (local time) at the Campo Ferial Chuquiago Marka in La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, with about 200 K-pop fans watching. ‘Bolivia qualifiers were held.

In this qualifier, held as a face-to-face event for the first time in two years due to Corona 19, a total of 10 dance teams (5 individual teams, 5 group teams) passed the preliminary screening out of 40 individual and 14 group teams who applied for participation in the competition participated. ITZY and Seventeen competed for cover dances of popular K-pop idol groups.

In particular, the local enthusiasm for K-Pop was so hot that some participating teams were from regions such as Cochabamba.

Evelyn Medina, president of the MODANCE Dance Academy, who was in charge of the judging, said through her review, “The skills and standards of the participating teams are increasing yearly.”

As a result of the screening, the first place in the individual category went to a female cover dancer who danced to PIXY’s ‘WINGS,’ and the first place in the group category went to the ‘X-force’ team, who performed a dance performance with Seventeen’s ‘Hot.’

The winning and runner-up teams in the individual and group categories will be eligible to participate in the audition for the final stage held in Changwon, Korea, in October.

Kim Ki-hong, Ambassador of Bolivia to Bolivia, said, “This K-pop competition has become a place of comfort for the Bolivian people who are weary from the coronavirus as it has been held face-to-face for the first time in two years.”

Meanwhile, the embassy also promoted significant tourist destinations in Korea, such as Seoul, Busan, and Jeju, and the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo, as a side event at the event site.
