NiziU, a Japanese girl group nurtured by JYP Entertainment, is planning to compete with a Korean girl group.
JYP Entertainment is widely known as a ‘girl group name’ to many K-pop fans.
Following the girl group Wonder Girls, JYP Entertainment, which has made big hits for Twice, Miss A, and ITZY, continues to live up to its name as the ‘three major agencies.’
In 2020, JYP Entertainment expanded its activities by debuting the all-Japanese girl group NiziU in Japan.
NiziU held a concert at Kyocera Dome Osaka on December 17th and 18th, one year and 11 months after their debut.
This is the record for the shortest period for a Japanese female artist to enter a dome.
In addition, NiziU’s ‘Make You Happy’ music video exceeded 300 million views on YouTube, achieving the record of ‘the first Japanese female group to exceed 300 million views’.
NiziU, gaining great popularity in Japan, will release its first album in Korea in 2023 and start promoting it.
According to a report by Xports News on the 26th, NiziU plans to release and promote an album in Korea in the first half of 2023.
Mako, Riku, Rima, Rio, Maya, Miihi, Mayuka, Ayaka, and Nina are all Japanese. NiziU is a girl group selected by JYP Entertainment in Japan and produced through Korean-style training.
Equipped with the strengths of both Korean and Japanese music systems, NiziU plans to bring new vitality to the domestic music market by releasing an album in Korean next year in Korea.
While domestic 4th generation girl groups such as Ive, New Jeans, Le Seraphim, and Aespa are making great strides, everyone is paying attention to whether NiziU can achieve meaningful results.
