The Korean Cultural Center of the European Union in Belgium will hold the ‘K-Pop Academy’ for locals who like Korean culture for a month in August.
The K-Pop Academy is a unique education program that the Korean Cultural Center has been holding every summer since 2016.
This year’s Academy consists of four classes, two classes each for beginner and intermediate dance classes. The participants’ enthusiasm was hotter than ever before, as applications for the capacity of 80 people were closed early.
Miriam, who participated in the orientation on the 30th, said, “I have a very passive personality, but I have made many friends through K-pop.
Unlike previous years, where K-pop dance and vocal instructors active in Korea were invited and operated, the Cultural Center will ask local instructors who teach K-pop dance at local dance schools to run the program this year. The instructors are members of a local K-pop cover dance group and are also from the ‘K-Pop Academy hosted by the Korean Cultural Center.
Academy participants learn K-pop dance for four weeks and experience various Korean cultures through workshops such as Hangeul calligraphy and Taekwondo. In particular, on the 27th, the last day, a flash mob will be held at the Serpentine Park in Brussels, showing off the skills that have been honed for a month.
During the four weeks of the Academy, the Cultural Center will produce videos by filming participant interviews and class videos and plan to use them as online K-Pop content in the future.
