Incheon has laid the foundation for rapidly emerging as the center of K-pop that leads the global Hallyu culture.
Large domestic agencies such as SM, JYP, and FNC have signed an agreement with the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority to spread the K-pop culture industry.
According to the Incheon Economic Administration on the 10th, the signing ceremony of the MOU for cooperation between the Incheon Economic Administration and the K-POP Future Entertainment City consortium was held at the G-Tower located in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon on the 10th.
Large domestic agencies such as SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, FNC Entertainment, and KSC Holdings participated in the consortium.
According to the agreement, Incheon Economic Administration and each agency decided to expand K-pop culture-related facilities in Songdo, Cheongna, and Yeongjong International Cities, free economic zones (IFEZ), and hold various K-pop cultural events using contents.
They also agreed to make joint efforts to develop future and creative cultural projects.
A consortium of agencies decided to use the experience and network of the Hallyu industry to establish and implement a creative business plan in IFEZ, and the Incheon Economic Administration decided to actively support various administrative tasks such as business plan review.
In particular, they decided to make a mutual effort to realize a ‘global cultural hub city and a ‘fourth industry-leading city’ centered on the metaverse and K-POP contents in IFEZ.
Ultimately, the plan is to create the Incheon Free Economic Zone as a K-pop center and enhance the national competitiveness of the Hallyu industry.
To this end, the Incheon Economic Administration conducted a project to expand the ‘Art Center Incheon,’ a classical concert hall built to create a cultural and leisure hub, into a video and cultural production complex. It continued efforts to expand the cultural infrastructure and attract the cultural industry. Will proceed.
Director Lee Won-Jae of the Incheon Economic Administration said, “K-pop and K-culture are attracting attention from people worldwide as representative Hallyu contents with global competitiveness. I will do my best.”
Meanwhile, recently, K-POP has been leading the growth of related industries such as cultural industry export and performance-linked tourism and is considered as a representative player among Hallyu contents.
In particular, SM・JYP・FNC Entertainment is a leading agency in Korea that has trained and produced numerous popular idol groups such as HOT, Girls’ Generation, 2 PM, Twice, CNBLUE, and AOA.
Recently, SM Entertainment is also introducing new cultural content, such as releasing a mini-album of girl group Espa that incorporates the ‘metaverse worldview.’
