In an effort to reduce parcel redelivery, Saitama Prefecture has created an animated video explaining how to receive packages in one go and is showing it at train stations and other locations.
The video was produced in collaboration with the Saitama Trucking Association, and the narration was provided by Junko Takeuchi, a native of the prefecture and voice actor for the main character, Uzumaki Naruto, in the popular anime series “NARUTO.”
The video is titled “Receive your delivery in one go! ~ A connected spirit will change tomorrow. ~” and introduces options such as “leaving your parcel at the door,” “delivery boxes,” and “specifying a date and time” from the perspectives of delivery drivers and users.
According to the prefecture, the national redelivery rate is about 10%. With the rise of online shopping, redeliveries are increasing the burden on delivery companies and spurring a driver shortage.
The prefecture has designated December as “Prefectural Redelivery Reduction Promotion Month” and has created an animated video to raise awareness.
The video has been aired at major stations, such as Omiya Station, and in extensive commercial facilities since late November, and has also been released on the prefecture’s official social media accounts.
