Conference to illuminate the history and future of K-pop held online on the 30th

The ‘K-Pop History and Future Conference’ was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Hwang Hee) and hosted by the Korea International Cultural Exchange Agency (President Jeong Gil-Hwa) and KArts Creative (CEO Yoo Yu-won) will be held on the 30th and held online.

The ‘K-Pop History and Future Conference,’ a side event of the 2021 World K-Pop Concert (Korean Cultural Festival), consists of a variety of programs such as a conference of academic experts, a round table for foreign students in Korea, and a talk show by famous music critics.

Part 1 Defining K-Pop: Focusing on Changes in Time, Actors, and Media (Professor Kim Soo-Ah, Seoul National University, Pop Music Critic Kim Yun-Ha), Some Suggestions for Living K-Pop Archiving (Popular Music Critic Seo Jung Min-Gap, Archive Lab Representative Dae-Jin Ahn) ), a discussion centered on the history of K-pop will be held.

Part 2 Encounter of K-Pop and Media Technology: K-Pop as Media Technology Expands, Its Possibilities, and Limitations (Professor Jong-Im Lee, Kyung Hee University, Professor Young-Han Cho, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), Cultural Policy for the Future of K-Pop, How to Prepare (Korea National University of Arts) Professor Lee Dong-yeon of the school and Shin Yong-Shik, head of the Hallyu Support and Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) will look into the direction and future of K-pop.

After the first part of the discussion, there is a program called where you can hear the stories of international students residing in Korea. Kim Young-Dae, a famous music critic, and Lee Kyu-Tak, a professor at George Mason University in Korea, will talk about the topic.

Anyone can participate in the conference non-face-to-face, and it will be broadcast live through the Korean Culture Festival YouTube channel from 14:00 on the 30th.
