‘Mario’ movie surpasses 10 billion yen.

Distributor Toho Towa announced on the 29th that the domestic box office revenue of the animated movie “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” based on the characters of Nintendo’s popular game, exceeded 10 billion yen.

It was achieved on the 28th, 31 days after the release in April, and is said to be the fastest ever for a Western animation. The number of spectators is about 7.05 million.

It was also a hit in the United States, and overseas box office revenue reached about 170 billion yen.

The movie was co-produced by US animation giant Illumination, known for “Minions” and Nintendo. Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach from the “Super Mario Bros.” series go on adventures to protect the peace.
