A 24-year-old man was arrested at a Fukuoka City commercial facility for stealing several famous anime figures by shaking a crane game machine. Tatsuma Yanagida (24) was arrested by an unemployed man from Kasuga City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

According to the Hakata Police Station, at around 4:00 pm on January 11, Yanagida shook a crane game machine at a game center in the commercial facility “Lalaport Fukuoka” in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City and shook four famous anime character figures. (equivalent to 3,200 yen in market price) was dropped into a hole and stolen.

On January 31, Yanagida was witnessed by a store clerk for a similar act of theft and was forgiven after returning the figurine. On the other hand, when asked by a store clerk, “Have you done something similar before?” Yanagida replied, “No.” When the store side and the police who received the report scrutinized the store’s past security camera, the crime was reflected.

In addition, the exact figure was sold at a purchase shop near Yanagida’s home, which led to his arrest. Yanagida admitted to the charges in response to the investigation, saying, “It was for the purpose of resale.” Police are also investigating additional charges.
