The Korean Embassy in Singapore (Ambassador Choi Hoon) announced that it had completed the ‘2021 K-Pop World Festival Singapore Preliminary Competition’, held online from May 8 to June 27, and invited the winners to the embassy awarded them on July 9.

‘2021 K-Pop World Festival’ is a global K-pop festival hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Overseas Culture and Promotion Agency, KBS, and Changwon since 2011. About 100 diplomatic missions abroad hold regional qualifiers for locals every year.

The Korean Embassy in Singapore has been hosting the Singapore Qualifier for the 8th time this year since 2014. In particular, this year’s preliminaries were held with SCAPE, a Singapore youth promotion agency, to enhance the synergy effect of the competition, and a total of 41 teams participated in a K-pop cover dance contest.

The award ceremony held at the embassy was attended by the Double R Squad team, who took first place, the YLT team, the runner-up, and the DFE team, who placed third. The embassy presented the winning team with Korean Mart gift certificates, Korean cosmetics, and photo books for K-pop singers.

The three winning teams will have a chance to advance to the ‘2021 K-Pop World Festival’ finals, which is scheduled to be held online in October this year if they pass the final judging by experts in Korea.

An embassy official said, “At a difficult time for everyone due to Corona 19, it is meaningful to experience the friendship between the two countries as well as the dynamic energy and resilience of K-pop through the K-Pop World Festival Singapore Qualifier. We will actively support them to advance.”
